NEW ‘HEALTHY KIDZ' PE PROGRAMME - ‘BIG WORKOUT DAY'

As everyone is aware, funding for schools has been drastically cut over the last few years.  We believe it is important to still run a comprehensive PE timetable as part of our curriculum.  We have, therefore, partnered with ‘Healthy Kidz’ who will help us deliver a fun packed PE class in school and encourage us to build up activity outside of school hours.

This year we are delighted to introduce the four strand ‘Healthy Kidz’ programme for every child in our school.  Its aim is to get all pupils active, fit and healthy.

Strand One of the programme is our physical literacy programme which takes place during the school day.

Strand Two is the Golden Mile. Here all pupils are expected to go outside and walk or run, (up to a mile) in ten minutes at least twice a week.

Strand Three is an after school session, with the aim of increasing activity levels, one which will complement the in-school provision.

Strand Four is the introduction of a new and innovative app. All pupils going through the ‘Healthy Kidz’ programme will be given access to this app. Here they can record all activity, both inside and outside school.  Schools involved will be competing to see which is the most active school in the area, with a monthly reward for the most active school available. The ‘Healthy Kidz’ programme allows pupils to increase their activity levels both inside and outside school.

To help facilitate the introduction of this programme your child will be taking part in a unique fundraising “Big Workout Day” on Thursday 27 September 2018 with their class. This is a fun filled, station based activity taster session which, perhaps, will test their endurance levels.
