October News from Miss Friel's Class!

6th Nov 2018

There is only one word to describe October in Miss Friel’s Class...BUSY!

On top of all our other academic work we have been so lucky to have been chosen to participate in two additional educational programmes!

The first of these was Forest School, run by the NIFSA. Each Monday we donned our wellieboots and went up to our own site forest to be met by Brian, our leader. Each week he had something new and exciting for us to: from building fairy houses, to working on camouflage we did it all! It was so much fun, even Miss Friel had a go! We are now eagerly awaiting our accredation to say that we are an official forest school, how exciting! Miss Friel’s was so proud of how well the boys and girls behaved, their manners and their enthusiasm and effort throughout the program. Super job!

Our second programme is Roots of Empathy, a course designed to help the children develop and become more in tune with their emotions through working with a young baby. Our baby is called Jack! We may be a little biased, but we think he’s the cutest baby in the world! We have been learning about what baby Jack can do and we now know that he can drink from his bottle, sleep and lie down, but that he can’t play football just yet! The boys and girls have been so gentle with Baby Jack and are so quiet when he comes to visit with his mummy Laura. Mrs Murphy (our leader) will be coming to visit us every Tuesday until May and we will watch baby Jack grown and develop!

Such exciting times in Primary Two and I am sure that November will bring even more!
