8th Feb 2018

Catholic Schools Week 2018

Called to be a Family of Families

On Thursday 1st February representatives from our Pupil Leadership Team travelled to St Peter’s Church Lurgan to join with other schools from the Diocese of Dromore to celebrate mass together as part of Catholic Schools' week.

We were very pleased to see Sr Rosemary and Sr Mercedes, as well as Canon Brown and Bishop John Mc Areavey.

"I loved the Mass even though it was a bit long. The singing was amazing."

"I also thought the singing was incredible and the mass beautiful. I was suprprised when Irish Dancers led up the offertory procession."

"The mass was lovely and the church was very nice especially the amazing stained glass windows which had wonderful detail."

I learned that there are 47 schools in the Diocese of Dromore. Everything about the morning from the bus trip to the mass was very nice."

"The Gospel was sung and it was very different. There was a big board that represented all of the Parishes in the Diocese and I found the board very interesting.

Pope Francis asks everyone to pray the official family prayer for World Meeting of Families 2018.

God, our Father,
We are brothers and sisters in Jesus your Son,
One family, in the Spirit of your love.

Bless us with the joy of love.

Make us patient and kind,
gentle and generous,
welcoming to those in need.
Help us to live your forgiveness and peace.

Protect all families with your loving care,
Especially those for whom we now pray:

[We pause and remember family members and others by name].

Increase our faith,
Strengthen our hope,
Keep us safe in your love,
Make us always grateful for the gift of life that we share.

This we ask, through Christ our Lord,

Mary, mother and guide, pray for us.
Saint Joseph, father and protector, pray for us.
Saints Joachim and Anne, pray for us.
Saints Louis and Zélie Martin, pray for us.
