Further details including your child's log in, password and ZPD will be sent home. The ZPD is a reading range which the children use in order to select books from our AR library OR from Newry library.  In fact, lots of books which you have at home will probably be 'AR' books and your child will be able to search for them on the platform and complete a quiz when they have read the book.  

In order to use the programme at home you MUST use our unique link. If you have problems signing in it is generally because you have not used this exact link so save this address to your device at home. Children can complete a quiz at home.

Accelerated Reader has been proven to raise attainment while simultaneously creating readers who love to read. We are delighted to be able to offer this programme to our pupils.

Dear Parents,

You will receive your child's 'Student Performance Record Report' via Seesaw this week. 

This report details the number of quizzes which your child has taken through the AR platform and how successful your child has been in each of these quizzes.  

  Please look at their performance (and their target) and chat to your child regarding their progress.  Bear in mind that a score of 80% is needed in order to 'pass' a quiz.  Children who are scoring lower than this may be quizzing too quickly, without really having understood what they have read.  

  We are seeing a direct correlation between AR usage (with comprehension firmly i.e. scores above 80%) and progress in reading ages for our children.

 Please encourage your child to read lots at home. The development of reading is a BIG focus in our school this year.   The children have analysed their 'quizzing history' and have set themselves a target for Term 2.  

Some targets may be: To read more! To read more challenging texts/articles To read in a more focused manner in order to achieve AT LEAST 80% in EACH quiz. To ensure (if they are doing well) that they will achieve 90% in each  - or 100% in each quiz.
