ECPD History and Ethos
ECPD caters for children who have a physical difficulty from the ages of 4-12 years.
Miss Blanaid O’Shea has been Teacher-in-Charge having taught in the Abbey Primary School mainstream for 10 years before that.
The children all follow an individual education plan and receive one to one lessons as well as integrating into the different classes for group lessons where appropriate.
The ethos of the ECPD is to “Promote your abilities” and children are encouraged to develop a Have A Go attitude to all aspects of the curriculum.
The videos and photographs on our news page all show the breadth of activities which the pupils experience day by day in school-Literacy, numeracy, music, religion, drama, art, environmental studies, sport and importantly FUN!!

Working in Partnership with Therapists
At our Educational Centre for Pupils with Physical Difficulties , we believe in a holistic approach to education for students with physical challenges.
This is why we have a team of dedicated professionals, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, who work together to assess each student's individual needs and devise personalised programs.
These programs can be carried out by our therapists or upskilled assistants, ensuring that our students receive the best possible care and support. We also understand the importance of regular monitoring and review, which is why our therapists and educators constantly communicate and collaborate to ensure that all aspects of a student's development are addressed. And, as a team, we also value the input and feedback of parents, who play an important role in their child's education and well-being. Together, we strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment for students with physical disabilities to thrive and reach their full potential.
