ECPD History and Ethos
The ECPD is 39 years old and caters for children who have a physical difficulty from the ages of 4-12 years.
For the past 15 years Miss Blanaid O’Shea has been Teacher-in-Charge having taught in the Abbey Primary School mainstream for 10 years before that.
The children all follow an individual education plan and receive one to one lessons as well as integrating into the different classes for group lessons where appropriate.
The children attend Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy & Occupational Therapy in school weekly. Classroom assistants carry out subsequent Care Plans as directed by the therapists.
The ethos of the ECPD is to “Promote your abilities” and children are encouraged to develop a Have A Go mentality to all aspects of the curriculum.
The videos and photographs on our news page all show the breadth of activities which the pupils experience day by day in school-Literacy, numeracy, music, religion, drama, art, environmental studies, sport and importantly FUN!!!!!!!!
