100 Years of Fatima: Centennial Pilgrim Statue to visit Newry Cathedral on March 6th
On January 11th 2017 Pope Francis blessed six statues of Our Lady of Fatima with a view to one of them being brought to each of the continents. He views this as an appeal for prayer and reparation for world peace and to promote the sanctity of family life in our world.
One of those statues will arrive in Newry Cathedral on Monday 6th March at 12 noon approximately.
All parishioners are invited to come to the Cathedral and pray the Rosary before the statue of Our Lady of Fatima.
A plenary indulgence is granted by Pope Francis in this Jubilee Year to those who pray before the statue.
Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral on Monday 6th March at 7.30pm followed by a short candle light procession. After the Mass there will be the opportunity for the Diocese to be consecrated to the two hearts of Jesus and Mary. There will also be an opportunity for those who wish to be enrolled in the brown scapular. The Cathedral will remain open until Midnight to give the opportunity for public veneration.
