We were delighted that our son was one of the Shepherds at the Christmas Eve Mass in Newry Cathedral.
Afterwards he asked for a photograph beside the Nativity and to our surprise Archbishop Eamon Martin asked to be included in the photograph for his Twitter page.
I am sure you can imagine the delight on our sons face and the sense of pride we had. We were equally amazed at seeing not just how many liked the 'Tweet' but also the various comments. One in particular almost brought tears to our eyes and I quote: "A prayer has been raised up from 'Across the pond' for that Shepherd in Newry". The fact that it came from New York made this all the more special.
We are eternally grateful that our son got the opportunity to be included in the Christmas Eve Mass and also had the honour of holding 'The Bethlehem Peace Light'.
Our family will treasure this moment for the rest of our lives.
