Developmental Language Disorder Awareness Day
On 14th October Speech & Language Therapists across the Trust will be joining with their colleagues across the world to raise awareness of a common but little known condition called Developmental Language Disorder.
Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is when a child or adult has persistent difficulties with talking and/or understanding language. These difficulties impact on education and social interactions and have no known cause.
This year’s theme is ‘Growing with DLD’ to highlight the fact that DLD is a long-term condition and not something that children will ‘grow out of’.
It’s estimated that 2 children in every mainstream class of 30 may have DLD.
