ECO Council Secure Funding

The school Eco Council, with the assistance of Miss Jones have been enhancing the school grounds and were eager to plant some lovely 'bushy' plants and 'climbers' in the P1/2 play spaces.

With the help of Mrs Downey, they wrote a letter to the Warrenpoint Harbour Authority (WHA) asking for some funds to buy large planters and were DELIGHTED to be awarded £1,000. 


From our application

 ‘We would like to provide 30m of heavy-duty planters in the playground for pupils to work together to plant out and maintain.  This area will provide a space for pupils to connect with nature, to work together, will help to reduce stress and improve mental health and confidence. Gardening helps to promote physical activity, helping to combat sedentary lifestyle.  Growing plants will foster environmental awareness, encourage pupils to care for their surroundings and learn about sustainability’.
