ECO Council speak at assembly

November assembly

1.Good afternoon everyone. We are this year’s Eco council. As you know your class has an Eco council member. Therefore, if you have any ideas for us, make sure you tell the representative for your class so they can bring your idea to our meetings.

2.This is our Eco board. It is located outside Mr. Byrne’s classroom. On it we have lots of ideas and information on keeping our school green and ways you can help us.

3.You will also find the things we have been working on and what we have discussed in our most recent meeting. Our ideas box is another way you can let us know about your ideas.

4.So, after a very successful year last year as we recieved our second Eco flag we want to make sure we keep up the great work last year’s Eco council carried out.

5.Here are some things you can do to ‘do your bit’.

6.Keep our school rubbish free. Put all litter in the correct bins.

7. Put paper only in the blue bins in your classroom.

8. Use reusable lunch boxes and water bottles so little waste goes into the bins.

9.Make sure you have a healthy break.

10.Turn off all electrical devices and lights when they are not being used.

11. After completing an Environmental review these are the areas we have decided to work on this year. Our main focus is biodiversity. As we have lots of green space on our school grounds we want to use this space to attract lots of different wild life.

12.We will also be focusing on litter. And finally we want to continue to work on transport and achieve the Silver Sustrans award. Therefore, we are happy to have Dave from Sustrans here today with some great news and to tell you about your first challenge.
