Help Decorate The Cathedral This Christmas
Back by popular demand: The Cathedral looked magnificent last Christmas, adorned with poinsettia plants donated by parishioners.
You are invited once again to buy a Poinsettia plant (these are inexpensive and widely available) and bring it along to the parish office (opposite Newry Cathedral) during office hours (9am ‒ 4pm Monday to Friday) or to the Cathedral sacristy after Masses.
We will be accepting plants from (this) Saturday 16th December until Saturday 23rd December.
The shape of the Poinsettia flower resembles the Star of Bethlehem, the red leaves remind us of Christ’s Blood, shed for our salvation, the white leaves remind us of Christ’s purity and the green symbolises life and hope.
