January in Mrs Davey/Mrs McGoldrick’s class
We were all delighted to be back to school again after a great Christmas break. The boys and girls
were well refreshed and ready to get stuck into our learning again.
We continued our letters and sounds in literacy looking at the letters f, r, u, and q.
In numeracy we are continuing to learn our numbers and how to form them correctly. We have
worked on 8, 9 and 10 this month.
We were busy using the weighing scales to find items in our classroom that were heavy and light
and we used the language, heavier than and lighter than. Everyone enjoyed exploring the
pan scales and could even find items that balanced. There was so much new language in this topic and everyone did really well at using this language correctly.
It was a little to dangerous for us to be running around in the icy weather at the beginning of January
but we were afforded an opportunity to take a walk outside. We admired the beautiful frost and the snow on top of the mountains in the crisp, winter air.
We continued exploring and investigating in our play based learning. Time was spent in the creative classroom investigating clay, making temporary art and doing observational drawings.
We are so proud of you all. Learning is always fun in our class!
