Maths Week in Mrs Kearney’s Class
24th Oct 2024
During Maths Week in Primary 1/2 we had lots of opportunities to ‘showcase’ Maths and Numeracy during our Play Based Learning experiences. In the Mud Kitchen we used mathematical language to measure. We talked about things being ‘full’, ‘fullest’ and ‘empty’. We also discussed the length of sticks we found in the forest using the language ‘long’ and ’short’ or ‘longest’ and ‘shortest’. We made sets of numbers to 5 using lots of different things we found in our classroom. During PE we were able to count the steps and jumps we did. We also used our spatial language to direct our friends ‘forwards’ and ‘backwards’ along the balance beams. We realised that Maths plays a huge part in our school day . Well done P1/2.
