May in Mrs McGoldrick/Mrs Davey’s P1 class.
May has been another super busy month in P1.
We have finished off learning all our letters with w, l, x and z being covered. We read some lovely stories such as whatever next’ and ‘zog’ to accompany our sound learning. We have written some sentences and are working on joining our sounds together to blend also.
We have enjoyed our time in the Forest and we can notice the difference in the forest environment. The trees are in full foliage and flowers are in bloom. We love to climb and twist and turn, building our core strength and balance. We are so lucky to have this wonderful resource on our school grounds.
The mud kitchen always provides us with lots of opportunities to mix and explore dissolving, without even realising. We love to mix the mud with water and make ‘mud cakes’ to try.
In numeracy we learned the number 15 as well as looking at practical adding and also making number sentences. We also did some revision of time and made o’clock and half last times.
May afforded us the opportunity to take part in our sponsored walk. What a fun day. We had lots of fun while raising funds for our school.
The pupils also enjoyed a really informative talk on farm safety from HSENI. Some great advice for our children.
We can’t believe our last month in Primary 1 is upon us.
