Miss Mallon's November News
The boys and girls in Miss Mallon’s class were learning lots of new things during the month of November.
In our Grow in Love programme the children were recognising that November is a special month during which we remember our loved ones who have died. We sang the remember song and placed names of our loved ones in Miss Duffy’s Rembrance tree in the front foyer.
Our literacy work has been exploring different genres of writing. We were writing instructions and refining our own ability to follow instructions. The children wrote fantastic instructions for painting and were engaged in lots of great discussion, with regards to important details we must include when writing instructions.
For our Learning through Play the children have been learning how to use clay. They have been exploring the textures and malleable features of clay. They have been working in the investigative area changing some materials into different “states”. They ground and compacted leaves and created powders. From these powders amazing pictures were created.
Finally, in our Numeracy work the children are working really hard exploring addition and subtraction. Super thinking was taking place as the children worked to prove how they figured out various answers.
Have a look through some of the photographs of our learning during the month of November.
