Miss Savage’s Class
How we planted the lettuce seeds.
First we put compost in our paper pots and added a small drop of water.
Next we put the seeds in and placed a thin layer of compost on top. We then put cling film over the pots, it will keep them warm and moist. The seeds need heat and light to germinate, so Miss Savage placed our pots on the window cill beside her desk.
After five days most of the seeds had germinated and we could see little green shoots.
Two pots had no growth. We moved them to the front of the tray closer to the window, added water and checked again in three days. They had grown!
