Mrs Kearney's September News
Welcome to Primary 2.
We have a had a very busy month in September. All the children have settled in so well and are working very hard.
In September we were revising teen numbers and practising counting and sequencing numbers within 20. The children have also been developing mathematical language associated with weight and length through practical activities.
In Literacy the children learned about autumn poems through the works of Shirley Hughes. We chose musical instruments to create a sound poem based on sounds from the forest.
We've had a great start also to learning through play. The children have been developing the scientific skills of observing, classifying and predicting through handling leaves and natural materials from the forest. The children are enjoying working together at the block area. They are loving the new concepts in the creative classroom. We are developing the skills of observational drawing, colouring mixing at the paint table and continue to explore connecting and joining.
