Olympic Torch Visit

Olympic Torch Visit

Today local running legend Willie McCracken came to visit Primary 3, Miss Rocks. He came to tell us all about the Olympic Torch and give us advice about how we could make the most of our talents.

We asked him lots of questions. Willie was specially chosen to carry the Olympic Torch before the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The torch has 8,000 holes in it that represent the 8,000 people who carried it.

We asked Willie about how he became such a good runner and he told us that he was dedicated and worked hard. He said that if we want to be good at any sport we have to be dedicated, work hard and always do our best. He said it was most important to have respect for other competitors and that if he was racing and he didn't win he always went and shook the hand of anyone who beat him.

We hope that we will learn to be good sports.

Willie was very kind and brought us some special gifts. He also allowed us to have our photo taken with the Olympic Torch.

We would like to say a very big thank you to Willie for bringing the Olympic Torch to our class and sharing his knowledge and experience with us. We hope that we will be able to live up to the example that Willie has set us.
