P1 Learn about "Fairtrade"

As part of our ‘journeys’ topic, Primary One have been looking at the journey of food from far away places, all the way to Newry!

We looked at the journey of chocolate, from cacao to chocolate bar!

We also did some research into Fairtrade foods, their journey from the farmer to us, and the impact buying Fairtrade has on farmers across the world.

We spotted the Fairtrade symbol on chocolate, bananas, tea, coffee and sugar! We enjoyed eating Fairtrade fruit as part of our Fairtrade snack morning!

We now know what the Fairtrade symbol looks like and what it means! We had a great fun-filled Fairtrade morning!
