P7 Meet Marita Conlon McKenna

Newry hosted the Commemorative celebrations relating to the Famine.  St. Clare's Abbey pupils were honoured to attend a 'talk' by Marita Conlon McKenna - the esteemed author of Under the Hawthorne Tree - the text which the Primary 7 children focused on while they learned about life during the Famine.

Marita Conlon McKenna spoke about her life as an author, the things which influenced her books and how to become an author.  Her talk was part of week long events held by Bagenal's castle - other events included workhouse workshops and food workshops which the Primary 7s also attended.
