Peace Proms
On Sunday 3rd February the school choir travelled to the RDS indoor arena in Dublin to participate in the Cross Border Peace Proms and what a FABULOUS time we had!!!!
We set off at 8.30 in the morning and there were so many of us that we had to travel in 2 Translink coaches. We were all dressed in white tops and black trousers or skirts and there were 2500 children in the choir altogether, from schools all over Ireland.
The conductor was amazing as were the other performers-the orchestra and a selection of dancers. We practised throughout the morning and at 1.00 we were so excited when the National anthem was played and the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins was chaperoned into the arena by his bodyguard, dressed in full military uniform. We never in our lives believed that we would have an opportunity to perform for the Irish president and we will remember that honour for ever.
The arena was filled and some of our parents were lucky enough to get tickets. After we had sung and danced our way through the performance, they came up to us and told us that we had been 'SPECTACULAR.'
It was an amazing day and we thank Miss Mallon and Mr Clarke for preparing us and Mrs Mc Cartan, Mrs Hollywood, Mrs Mulholland, Mrs Lundy and Mrs Monaghan for taking us.
