Term 2 - Mrs Cribbin's class
The children have become more independent and confident during Term 2.
We walked to Bagenal’s Castle to reinforce our January / February play topic, Castles. Declan was our guide in the museum, he explained the features of the castle to us all. Then the children made a castle to take home.
The children prepared their own snack on Pancake Tuesday. They decorated their pancakes using a variety of fruit and toppings. Each pancake looked delicious.
On Ash Wednesday Sr Rosemary came to our classroom to distribute ashes.
The Primary 1 play topic for March / April is On the Farm / New life in Spring. To support our topic Phil’s Farm came to school to showcase a variety of animals.
During indoor and outdoor construction the children made “homes” for animals and all enjoyed looking for new life in the forest and around the school.
The children are very proud that the bulbs they planted have flowered. 🌼 🌷
In Literacy we have have learned more sounds and have worked very hard on CVC words. We wrote sentences about bears, the vet and Elmer the elephant.
In Numeracy the children have used strategies to recognise and write numbers to 13. Have used Numicon and other classroom materials to explore different ways of making numbers. They have also been developing their problem solving skills.
The children were introduced to Trócaire and the importance of helping others. Our class Easter egg raffle raised £49.00 for Trócaire. Thank you.
Happy Easter from everyone in Primary one.
