Primary 7 have started an exciting new project focusing on Financial Capability and the getting them ready for the working world. In partnership with Young Enterprise Northern Ireland and Newry Credit Union the 3 classes have been learning about different business roles, profit and loss, advertising, marketing and production of products.
Newry Credit Union have very kindly sponsored each class with £50 start up capital to get their businesses going. First up we had Mrs McParland's class who came up with Hot Chocolate cones for Valentine's Day.
The children worked in their different teams to complete different tasks such as; calculate the cost of expenses, gauge a suitable price, calculate the quantity needed, discuss how to advertise and promote the product and create these advertisements and finally production of the product. The class invited John and Hollie from Newry Credit Union back to share their business journey and how their start up capital grew. The class made an outstanding profit of over £400!!
Next, will be the turn of Miss Dineen's class who are producing keychains for Mother's Day. We are excited to see outcomes of their business venture.
