Roots of Empathy Week 8
This week’s theme, ‘Who am I?’, focuses upon our understanding of safety issues with a baby eating.
It is so important that you NEVER leave a baby alone while eating.
We closely observed mum, Ciara, feeding baby Eabha in her buggy.
Maureen explained to us that babies learn to eat by copying, experimenting and practising and that making a mess can be part of this. She reinforced that a baby who makes a mess is not a ‘’bad’’ baby – just baby learning.
Ciara then gave Eabha a food she loves, yoghurt. We clearly watched baby’s cues.
Finally, Ciara gave Eabha a food that she never tasted before, pineapple. It was so interesting to watch Eabha’s first approach to this.
We look forward to Ciara and gorgeous baby Eabha returning to our class for their final visit.
