Miss Dufy's Class Trip
On Thursday 31st May we went to Belfast. We went on a bus to the Ulster Museum. We had great fun in the history room. We had a teacher called Danielle. She showed us lots of old fashioned toys, clothing and games. There were lots of displays showing shoes and clothing from around the world. We saw shoes made from seal skin and from reindeer. The hides from the reindeer were thick and very soft. We had to be like forensic archaeologists when we tried out some exhibits like putting a skull back together or an ancient bowl. We then went exploring around the museum.
We saw the Edmontosaurus Dinosaur skeleton. It was a plant eating dinosaur from North America 70 million years ago. We saw the Salamander that was made of gold and rubies from the Spanish Armada.
We saw St. Patrick's Regalia which was a collar containing 7 roses joined by 14 knots to 6 harps, all gold and once worn by the Earl of Shaftesbury.
We saw the mummy Takabuti who lived over 5 hundred years ago in Thebes Egypt. She was a fine lady and the mistress of an important house.
We saw the Bann disc from the Iron Age. We saw the Malone hoard, which were Stone Age axes. We saw fossil ammonite shells.
We had an amazing time. We went to the shop, then had our lunch outside in the sunshine before going back home.
