September in Miss Gilsenan's Class
What a great first month we have had in Primary 2 – the children have settled beautifully!
In Numeracy, we have been revising our teen numbers through the use of Numicon and other practical resources. We have been focussing on counting and sequencing numbers within 20. The forest was a great place to explore and investigate length, helping us to bring our Numeracy work to life! We compared the length of different sticks and even found our own ways of measuring them.
In Literacy, we have been revising our sounds from last year and have certainly put our writing skills to great use! We have written about our adventures in the forest – what we have seen and what we have heard. We have also been exploring rhyme through some beautiful autumnal poems.
In Learning through Play, we have been investigating different natural materials which we found and collected in our forest – sorting and classifying them with the help of a range of scientific equipment. We have been working together in our Construction Area building cafés, hotels and bridges, putting our problem-solving skills to the test!
Well done Primary 2... what a great start to our year!
Have a look at some of our photographs!
