September has been a month in which Primary 1 have settled in so well to life in St Clare’s Abbey Primary School. We are so proud of all the boys and girls in our class in how well they have taken part in their new routines. We have been doing lots of work on getting ourselves ready to learn and we had Mr Byrne in to our class to explain our feelings to us as how we can ‘check in’ every morning with our zones of regulations. We are very lucky to have a new ‘calm corner’ in our classroom where we can go to help us regulate our feelings.
In literacy we have been working really hard to follow Ginger’s listening rules, doing listening activities and learning all about the letter and sound ‘s’.
In numeracy we have been joining in singing lots of number rhymes, as well as counting to and from 5 and 10. We love to do songs with actions as that helps us to remember our number sequence. We have looked at number 1 in more detail also.
