Welcome to Primary 2!
September has been a busy month in Miss Mallon’s class. We have been revising teen numbers, practising counting and sequencing numbers within 20. We have been developing our mathematical language comparing items of different weight and length through practical activities.
In literacy we have been putting our writing skills to work. We learned about Autumn poems through the works of the wonderful children’s author Shirley Hughes. We chose musical instruments to represent autumnal sounds from our forest.
Learning through play has been super in Primary 2. We have been developing scientific skills of observing, collecting, classifying and predicting through handling leaves and natural materials from our woodland area. We love working together in the construction and block areas. We also have been developing our skills of observational drawing.
