STEM in Primary 4 - Renewable Energy
Primary 4 have been exploring renewable energy sources in STEM. The children have been exploring the concept of whether everyday life could go ahead if we only had renewable energy. We have explored the concept of whether or not the school could run off wind based energy and if so where would we need to put the wind turbine. We have also looked at the possibility of renewable cars and made our own cars that run off renewable energy.
We have had other fun with this topic too we made rockets and released them with a pump to see which would go highest and what properties are needed to make the rocket launch successfully. We also had the chance to do a bit of baking and make s’mores with our solar ovens. We found the power of the sun was able to melt the chocolate and soften the marshmallow, perfect for our delicious treat!
Going forward we will be exploring further, the concept of solar energy. Would the sun’s energy be able to power everyday objects like a doorbell? We will have to wait to find out!
