We welcomed Canon Brown to a special assembly in his honour to celebrate 50 years of service to the priesthood. Canon Brown enjoyed being entertained by our P3 Choral Verse Speakers, our Fireside Choir and our Senior Choir. He congratulated our football team in their recent success at a tournament in Armagh- they returned with a shield and great pride in our school jersey ๐๐ It was very fitting that Canon Brown had the opportunity to congratulate our football team because it was he who fought hard to ensure our school had a playing field. His dogged determination and child centred approach made him the perfect person to challenge decisions in the planning phase of St. Clare’s Abbey Primary School. We owe him so much and for that we were delighted to surprise him with the unveiling of a plaque naming our playing field in his honour. It will be forever known as the Canon Francis Brown Playing Field. We will be forever grateful to him.
