World Book Day 2018

The event sees children all over the UK dress as their favourite characters, receive precious book tokens and take part in the events that schools run to mark the wonder of reading.

Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures.

World Book Day , in partnership with schools all over the UK, will be distributing more than 15 million £1 World Book Day book tokens to children.

When you get your book token, all you need to do is to take it to your local bookshop and swap it for one of the ten exclusive, new and completely free £1 World Book Day books.

Or, if you’d prefer, you can use your book token to get £1 off any full price book or audio book instead. The book token redemption period is from Monday February 27 - Sunday March 26.

St Clare's Abbey children may come to school on Thursday 1st March dressed as their favourite book character or superhero.
