P4 Build Animal Habitats in the Forest
5th Dec 2018
Éadaoin, Leo, Niamh, Kaycie and Raigardas made a birds nest. Éadaoin commented, "I like the location of our habitat because it is realistic. We couldn't find a tree that we could use, so instead we decided to build our tree using a branch we found nearby."
"We worked well together. We found it difficult to balance the branch in the ground. We discussed how different things to use to keep it up and in the end we felt the rocks would work best for support." said Niamh.
Rachel really liked the bird's nest her group made. "I like the way we made our nest camouflage in with the tree. We found it hard to get the sticks to stay on the leaf because if they were too big or heavy they wouldn't balance properly." said Rachel.
Rihanna, Tara liked their group's burrow for a rabbit. They commented, "We like how we stacked the sticks on top of each other so the rabbit can get into its home. Caolan found a carrot for the bunny to eat which was an important for the rabbit to live. We placed our rabbit burrow close to a tree for shelter from rain."
Caolan found a carrot that had been growing in our flower beds that would provide food for the rabbits living in the burrow his group built.
Elsa's group made a den for a hedgehog. She mentioned that they worked extremely well together to make their habitat. She really liked the way they used sticks for the floor and added fir cones to keep the hedgehog warm.
Beth and Renate mentioned how their group had a bit of trouble with team work. However, they said, "When we stopped to listen to one another we solved our problems and found it a little easier to work together."
