Green Day in Primary One

16th Mar 2018

The children watched a video about St Patrick and learned that when Patrick was a small boy he prayed to God many times each day.

Patrick had been taken from England to Ireland as a slave when he was a young boy but escaped and went back to England. He then became a bishop and returned to Ireland to teach the Irish people about God. He built many churches and worked for thirty years preaching God's word.

Patrick used a shamrock to explain about God the father, God the son and the Holy Spirit.

The children also learned that St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, that we always celebrate St Patrick's day on March 17th and that is why we all came to school today dressed in green.

Thank you for dressing the children today. The staff appreciate your efforts.

We hope the children enjoyed the Ceili.

Have a happy and safe St Patrick's day.
