It's over ten years since the first influx of Polish people came to ireland‬. The Society of Christ, at the invitation of Bishop John McAreavey, supplied many of the Polish priests who have come here since. In recognition of the role that Bishop McAreavey and Honorary Consul of Poland‬, Jerome Mullan have played, the Superior General of the Society has decided to honour each of them with a medal. The presentation will take place in Newry‬ Cathedral next Sunday, 18th October, at 10.00am Mass.
Everyone is welcome, but we extend a special invitation to Polish people and representatives of Polish organisations to be present for this ceremony. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Parish Centre, the Mall, Newry.
