Maths Week 2023

14th Oct 2023

Maths Week this year runs from 14 - 22 October. We are hoping to make our pupils aware of the importance of maths in our everyday lives and increase their knowledge on the variety of ways maths can be used in jobs. With this in mind, we would like to run the following competition:

Pupils in P3 to P7 - Will make a presentation on how maths is used in jobs.    This knowledge may be gained through interviewing someone you know or through supervised internet use on a job that may interest you in the future.  The presentation can take the form of a recorded (audio or visual) interview, a presentation - using ICT or pencil and paper or just a written piece outlining the ways maths is used in the chosen job. It is then hoped that they can present their findings to their class.

Finished ICT pieces can be sent in via your class teacher's seesaw.

Written pieces can be brought into school and given to your class teacher.

All presentations must be sent into school by Thursday  19th October so they can be presented to the class. Competition winners will be chosen at assembly.

Pupils in P1- P3 - We would like you to take photographs of how maths is visible in your everyday life - eg numbers on your door, the steps taken up the stairs, counting out knives and forks for dinner, pairing and matching socks etc.

Hopefully you will then be able to tell everyone in your class as little bit about your photos.

Photos sent in via seesaw to your class teacher by Thursday 19th October.
