September news from Mrs Doherty's class

September was our first full time month having boys and girls in the same class. We have been making lots of new friends and are really happy in our new class. We have a lovely new blue and navy uniform.

On our first week back at school we started swimming lessons in Newry swimming pool. It is a great big pool and we are having lots of fun on Thursday mornings!

We have been busy already working on our literacy and numeracy. We are looking at poetry and a great poem called “The Bogeyman”.

We had one birthday in our class this month – Sarah Grant McMahon.

We are starting a homework project on the refugees for the month of October but this month we already began helping them by collecting shampoo and conditioner. Lorries collected them and are taking them to the refugee camps across Europe.

Mrs Doherty chose some children this term to help her in the classroom. They are;

  • ICT Monitors – Dara, Karolina and Owen
  • Eco Monitor – Cian and Emma
  • Class helpers – Justin and Erin
  • Book monitor – Katie and Amy
  • Line leaders – Naomi and James
  • Library monitor – Ryan

Shane is our class representative on the school Eco Council.

We started a reward competition for the table of the week. The winning table gets sweets and treat time for their table in the play park.

We got our photograph taken for the school.

We celebrated European languages’ day in class by speaking in different languages that we knew and by making posters.
